Light Art Middelharnishof

The newly renovated Middelharnishof is an apartment complex called Korpersteijn for seniors in Rotterdam Pendrecht. A3 Architects renovated the building for housing association Woonstad and invited our designer/artist Paul van Laak to create a light object in a technical space on the roof of the building. Basically a boxed pavilion with large glass panels front and back.

Paul created a relation between the inhabitants and the building. He designed an endless loop for the front entrance of the building. Unfortunately this part has not been realized yet. On top of the building he designed a line, which of course has an end and a beginning. We leave it to your imagination in which way both symbols are related to life in general. At the same time the line shows a horizon in many different color settings. The color schemes are presented in the technical drawing below.
